A brand new year and a brand new blog has me musing about new beginnings. The world is a canvas, a blank page, an empty stage. How refreshing it is that new beginnings don't come once a year, but every day. Every second, every breath is a chance to make things new, to create, to change, to forgive & let go, to love & laugh, to cherish... to start over. The overflowing and never-ending supply of grace is intrinsic in every present, past and future moment. Each moment as precious and essential as the ones long gone and the ones that lie before. I used to loathe change, just the thought of it would make my stomach churn and my palms sweat. I desperately grasped to hold onto every possible thing in my clenched little fists. Time changed that, as it always has a way of doing: sneaking up on you when you least expect it and taking away some things you love. But sometimes, time knows best and works in our favour, to make us better, wiser and stronger. Now change is something I (sometimes reluctantly) embrace. For if it were not for change, we would never have new chapters in life, new beginnings, fresh clouds to dream on, or blank pages to write on. My favourite writer once said it best: "Learning to let go should be learned before learning to get. Life should be touched, not strangled. You've got to relax, let it happen at times, and at others move forward with it" - Ray Bradbury In this new year, on this new day, in this new moment, and for the rest of our lives, let us release from our strangling grip those properties of the universe in which we cannot change, and let life be touched. Let the blank pages be filled and turned, filled and turned, so that we may never stop changing and never stop creating. Let life go on.
